2020.10.25 16:55 A_Bowl_Of_Sour_Cream Is "RobOpossom Revival" an alright band name?

When we first started, I came up with it as a place holder name unil we got a good name. When the band finally got situated, our guitarist in particular wanted us to change our name. I am the main song writecreative force in the group so I was kind of in charge of coming up with our name. I came up with a long list of names but for whatever reason even if they sound kinda cool they dont seem right to me. I almost cant identify with any band name other than RobOpossom revival. Last night our drummer said RobOpossom revival has kind of grown on him. Its really a hard situation because although I like the name too, Im afraid no one will take us seriously or want to hear our music or lets us have a gig. I came up with the names "Control freak" and "Fret wired" and we would probably be taken more seriously, I feel a connection to RobOpossom Revival. Do you think a band could get big with a name like "RobOpossom Revival"? Its kinda weird compared to "black sabbath" "nirvana" "motley crue" "alice in chains" or "guns and roses". Do you think the beatles could have made it with a name like that? Im not sure what to do.
Edit: could It potentially work as an album name?

2020.10.24 22:26 flugelbynder Wilted Flowers' customer service is unmatched.

I just wanted to write a review for these guys. I had a USPS fiasco 2 weeks ago. I ordered some flower from Wilted Flowers. It was my first time ordering from them.
For whatever reason, USPS sent my package on tour with Motley Crue or something because my package bounced around the country for well over a week.
I knew it wasn't the shipper's fault but touched base with them anyway. David from Wilted Flowers was super cool and reshipped the order with a free sample of his Suver Haze. He said I'd probably end up getting both packages sooner or later. He told me to keep them both.
The flower is great as well!
That was so nice of him that I just had to write a review. Sorry it was so long.
Tldr: Wilted Flowers Customer Service is kickass.

2020.10.23 08:29 RIPGrantland The Upolu Five/Six is Such An All-Time Alliance

I feel like South Pacific is generally viewed as a bad season as it was in that stretch of seasons after Hero vs Villains that were all kind of stinkers. However, as an isolated season, I think it's pretty good, not like an all-timer, but solid. What really stood out to me was how formidable the Upolu Six alliance of Sophie, Coach, Albert, Brandon, Rick, and Edna. Not formidable in the classic sense of really talent individuals filling every role like the Black Widow Bridage, but what made them amazing was the fact that as individuals, many of them are terrible Survivor players, yet as an alliance, they showed unity, really couldn't get broken through, and ultimately dominated the game.
Seriously, as individuals, besides Sophie, they were not great Survivor players. Brandon was a literal crazy person. Edna stayed loyal forever despite clearly being the 6th person in their group of six, even having Brandon say it at different tribal councils. Rick made it to final 5 without any sense of understanding Survivor, and he was the only person who actually liked the movie Jack and Jill. Albert had some good player traits, but often tried to shake things up too much, hurting his standing with his tribe, and rubbing jurors the wrong way. I actually thought Coach deserved to win the season before the Final Tribal Council, but again, he's Coach, and the stuff he says and the way he overextends himself is wild. I think Sophie is so awesome, and watching her manage this motley crue all the way to end definitely garnered her a win. Sophie adapted to her surroundings at such a high level. What makes the season even funnier is that the Savaii tribe had so many type A personalities and the golden boy Ozzy, yet, they got outplayed by a bunch of misfits. This season felt more like David vs Goliath than the actual DvG season (and DvG is my 2nd fav season).

2020.10.20 02:10 Heaven-Purgatory-Hel m17 just looking for some online friends

Hello! My name is Owen, here's a bit about me:
I am currently a senior in HS, and soon to have 1 class for the rest of the year.
I usually do play school sports, I play Football and Baseball for my school and I am also on my school Bowling team.
I am currently also learning to be a certified Welder and that is also what I plan on attending college for.
Fishing and hunting are also one of my favorite pass times.
I absolutely love Star Wars with a passion, I have since I was a young kid and I probably will for as long as I can tell right now.
Huge gamer, I play on PS4 and Pc respectively even though I only have this not so great laptop that somehow gets the job done for most games.
Love listening to music, big fan of Rock and Heavy Metal. Some of my favorite bands are Shinedown, Korn, IPrevail, Metallica, and Motley Crue.
I also have a very cute 13 year old Black Lab and her name is Ember and I love her more than life itself.
If any of this sounds like friend material to you don't be afraid to send me a dm so we can start talking.

2020.10.19 20:50 AshtonWHCreativeW Music: The Cure for All My Trebles

Music is and always has been a very important aspect of my life as well as the lives of many others. From a very young age, I have always been interested in music. Humans have been making music since before they were using stone tools, so there obviously must be some reason that we still are to this day.
When I first started actively listening to music, I never really thought about what the artist may have meant within their work, I only thought things like “Oh, this sounds pretty cool, this is a good song.” It was a sort of blissful ignorance, much like what Mark Twain meant in his personal essay Two Ways of Seeing A River. Music held no greater meaning to me than whatever subconscious effect it had on my mind, compared to now whenever I hear a song, even songs I’ve known from the womb, I am constantly looking for new meanings that the artist may have been trying to convey.
One major downside to my ignorance was that I was not able to appreciate great music and once-in-a-lifetime opportunities when I came across them. It was a hot 2012 summer night in Atlanta, Georgia when me and my father were at a Live Iron Maiden concert with VIP tickets. I was so young that I had to have a dog leash attached to my belt loop so that I wouldn’t get lost in the crowd. As an 8-year-old Alaskan in Atlanta, Georgia in the middle of the summer sitting not too far from a large pyrotechnics display, I was obviously a bit uncomfortable. Thinking back on it now it is obvious that I should have been paying more attention to the rock gods in front of me than the temperature of the stadium, but at the time all that I could think about was the nice, refreshing, and most importantly air-conditioned VIP lounge we had passed through on the way in. Unfortunately, I absolutely blew my shot to see my favorite band of all time (whom Alice Cooper happened to be opening for), and will most likely never get a chance to witness such greatness ever again.
Almost everybody on my Mother’s side of the family plays an instrument or sings, and I have definitely inherited that trait from them. Whether it was sitting next to my Grandpa playing piano, playing the electric guitar with my Uncle Phil, or listening to my brothers’ songs on Soundcloud, I have been lucky enough to enjoy musical activities very often. Every time I visit my Grandparents in Idaho I get to experiment with all sorts of new instruments, from the mandolin to the harmonica. Even now, sitting just beside me I have a slide whistle, a recorder, an ocarina, a pan flute, and a harmonica.
On my Dad’s side, I inherited a love for all things from Rock n’ Roll to Heavy Metal. The first metal band I was introduced to was Iron Maiden, and we would listen to their songs any time we drove anywhere. Black Sabbath to Rush, Guns N Roses to Motley Crue, I love it all. Every now and again I do disagree with him on some music, for instance, he really likes the band Cheap Trick, but I think they’re really not that great. Also, he considers a lot of the songs I listen to to be overrated garbage, such as Guns N Roses (and I’m really inclined to agree with him, most of their songs are just album filler, but the good ones are amazing in my opinion). He gave me my free mind to go against the grain and have unique tastes in music, and for that, I could not thank him enough.
It was in 8th grade when I bought my first slide whistle off of Amazon. It was a nice chrome color all the way through and was made of metal, unlike the cheap plastic ones I see all over the internet. At the time, I was really not that great at playing it, and I was honestly more surprised when I could play a song with the right notes than when I couldn’t. Sometime throughout the year, I ended up breaking the slider on it, and my slide whistle career was temporarily over, after never yet really existing.
It was towards the latter-end of 9th grade when I had finally bought a new one, and after a semester and a half of choir class, I had somehow unlocked in my brain the ability to play any song I could hum on the slide whistle. This phenomenon still confuses me, as I am not sure how I could have, after a year of no practice whatsoever, mastered the instrument. From that year on, my acquisition of instruments began, slowly at first but gaining in speed. I had learned that I could play quite a few woodwind instruments rather easily (the harmonica unfortunately still eludes me) and I began looking for deeper meaning in most of the music I listened to. Before this point, I had been missing the meaning behind even the most obvious of songs.
