Match info

Match keys and news

  • Atlético are 3th in Liga with 26 points, 2 points below Barcelona and 2 over Valencia. Deportivo are 18th (16 points below Atleti). Barcelona and Valencia will face each other at Mestalla on the same day (21:00 CET).
  • Last Wednesday Atlético secured the qualification for the Champions League round of 16 after beating Olympiacos 4-0. Deportivo did not play during the week
  • Last Liga matchday Atlético won 3-1 over Málaga and Depor tied 0-0 with Real Sociedad
  • Next Wednesday Atlético begin their participation on this season's Copa del Rey visiting L'Hospitalet
  • Last time that Atlético hosted Depor in Liga was two seasons ago. Atlético won 6-0 with 5 goals by Falcao. Deportivo were relegated to Segunda that season.
  • Miranda is still recovering from his injury. Tiago had a "muscle overuse" against Olympiacos, so he may miss the match too. Update: Tiago is training normally so he may be available (thanks, Drygon). Gabi will not be available after his double yellow card against Málaga. Mario Suárez and Siqueira will be available again after their respective suspensions
  • Depor will miss the injured players Luis Fariña and Lucas Pérez, and perhaps Canella. Also Lopo, who had his fifth yellow card last weekend
  • Koke have 4 yellow cards and will miss the match against Elche if he is carded again (Miranda has 4 too, but he's injured).
  • Third match at Vicente Calderón in a row (Málaga, Olympiacos, Depor). Atlético have won their last 26 liga home matches so far

Talking points

  • On paper, this would be a good chance to make rotations. Should Simeone make them or better leave them for next week's Copa del Rey match?
  • Giménez will take over Miranda's spot again. Do you think that he has a chance to remain as a regular starter once Miranda's back if he plays well enough?
  • Mario is back, but Gabi is out and Tiago may might miss the match. Who would you choose for the center? Mario - Saúl? Perhaps Koke?
  • Siqueira or Ansaldi?
  • Do you think that Cerci will have the chance to play?
  • What result do you expect?

Squads

  • Atlético: Moyá, Oblak, Godín, Ansaldi, Gámez, Juanfran, Giménez, Mario, Tiago, Koke, Raúl García, Arda, Saúl, Cristian Rodríguez, Cerci, Griezmann, Mandzukic, Raúl Jiménez
  • Deportivo: Lux, Manuel Pablo, Canella, Bertantiños, Insua, José Rodríguez, Mendujanin, Helder, Juan Domínguez, Juanfran, Sidnei, Fabricio, Cuenta, Laure, Luisinho, Toché, Cavaleiro, Wilk, Diakité

  • Víctor Fernández "It is obligatory to compete"
